Station Information
Programs: Soil fertility, irrigation studies, alfalfa, small grains, sorghums, bermuda grass, and cotton variety and management studies.
Location: Four miles south of Tipton on Highway 5.
Size: 80 acres.
Description: The first cotton research field station in Oklahoma, the Southwest Agronomy Research Station sits on level, highly productive soil of the Tipton soil series. It has been the site of much research conducted in the fight against verticillium wilt in cotton. It represents vast areas of agricultural land in southwest Oklahoma which are second-terrace areas above the Red River and its tributaries.
